Myers Law is Hiring for Three Positions – Attorney; Intake Specialist; Marketing Coordinator

With the growth and changes that we have experience here at Myers Law (learn more here), Myers Law is looking to fill three positions.  These three positions are critical to our mission of making big change for Ohio consumers–on individual cases, class actions, and through new consumer protections.  Candidates must be interested in helping every-day consumers fight against bad businesses.  For a description of the work that we do, and clients that we assist, check out our website.

These positions are for:

  1. Associate Attorney (full-time);
  2. Intake Specialist (part-time or potentially full-time);
  3. Marketing Coordinator (part-time).

These positions all require task-oriented team members who have excellent organizational skills, are detail oriented, are able to solve problems and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and experience scheduling with Google Calendar.  Email and technological proficiency (laptop use, office software use, webmail, social media use, and ability to learn new programs, systems, and software) is a must.  Reliable transportation is also a must.

  3. If applying for Marketing Coordinator – attach or include a brief description of a marketing project in which you were recently involved and your philosophy / focus on any particular marketing techniques or approaches;
  4. For Intake Specialist and Marketing Coordinator – whether you are willing to work part-time and/or full-time;

Minimum 1 year experience in a litigation practice (preferably Plaintiff-side), or recent graduate (cum laude or better) with clinical experience.  Must be licensed and in good standing in Ohio.

We are looking for an associate attorney who can help us advocate for our consumer and employment clients.  This is a salaried position, with salary ranging, based on experience, from $35,000 to $45,000, with other other bonus opportunities based on matters brought in by the attorney, meaning that if the attorney brings in additional matters and clients, their is no cap on their earning potential.  Candidates are expected to work in the office between 40-50 hours per week, occasionally additional hours as needed.

There are other benefits, such as a matching Simple-IRA, and reimbursement of certain profession-related expenses.

We support our attorneys in bringing in new clients and engaging in marketing, and will pay for membership in a local business networking group of our choosing to assist the attorney in making connections that can help bring in additional clients that we can assist.

This position will involve a large amount of legal writing (motions, briefs, pleadings, discovery requests and responses), some research, involvement in drafting discovery requests and editing responses, client communication, and some court attendance and litigation, including travel to certain Northeast Ohio Courts.  Candidates will be expected to work in our office location.  Candidates should be able to efficiently use, and be proficient with,  Lexis Advance.  Duties may vary from time to time.  If you have experience with Clio for practice management, that will be a plus.

Minimum 1 year experience in customer service position.  Preferably performing client intake calls in the legal field.

We receive a large number of incoming new / potential client emails and phone calls every week.  We are in need of someone with customer service experience, preferably a background in the law or legal services / intake for a law firm, to handle the initial calls from our clients to make sure we are getting the information we need from them so we can quickly determine whether we can assist them, or need to get them in touch with another attorney.

Candidates must friendly and helpful.  In addition to using a laptop, candidates are expected to know how to use an iPhone.  Specialists must be able to quickly and efficiently obtain information from clients and third parties (occasionally perform public records requests), fill out our intake questionnaires, request specific documents from potential clients, follow up with potential clients about additional information that is needed, and handle all front-end communication, filing, organization requirements before an attorney meets with the potential new client.

This position can involve speaking with people in very stressful situations.  Many times, potential clients are having the worst experience of their lives before they call us.  Therefore, a positive, understanding, and efficient attitude is necessary.

This position may be full-time or part-time depending on need, but will likely begin as part-time (20 hours per week), with the potential to grow into more.  Pay is hourly, and commensurate with experience / ability.

Minimum 1 year experience in general marketing / law / or legal services, or recent graduate (cum laude or better) from a marketing program.  Legal services / law  / construction background experience preferred.

We are in need of a coordinator who can make sure that we are fully realizing the marketing potential of Myers Law.  This person helps get the word out to potential customers and the community about the important things that we do, and also to help us make connections with other attorneys and businesses so we can assist their customers and clients.

Duties will include scheduling networking activities, social media postings, blog postings, emailing clients and community members, organizing and designing newsletters or emails, scheduling and planning seminars and presentations, finding people to include in our new interview series, and other out-reach activities as may be agreed from time to time, including arranging television or other media interviews.

Law firm and lawyer marketing is different from other marketing in some ways.  The ethical rules and legal restrictions are different.  This candidate should either be familiar with those rules, or able to pick and and learn those rules through discussion with attorneys at the firm and the rules themselves.

This position would be an hourly part-time (10-20 hours per week), and may occasionally include light office work (filing / assistance of office administrator as needed).  To begin, this position will require the candidate to work from our office, but in the future, the right candidate may be permitted to work from home or another location, as long as goals are met / exceeded and it is a good fit.
